CALL TO ACTION: JOIN THE STRIDE FOR SURVIVORS WALKATHON ON SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2023! SUPPORTING SURVIVORS OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

JULY 31st, 2023 (TORONTO) – The Dr. Borna Meisami Commemorative Foundation is thrilled to announce the highly-anticipated “Stride for Survivors” Walkathon, an inspiring event dedicated to raising funds for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV). In light of the recent declaration by the city of Toronto, acknowledging gender-based, intimate partner violence as an epidemic, this walkathon takes on even greater significance as we unite to make a difference in the lives of GBV survivors.

“Our goal is to raise $50,000 for the Restoring Smiles and Restoring Strength programs, enabling us to provide crucial pro-bono dental and rehabilitative treatment to women survivors of GBV living in shelters in Ontario,” said Dr. Tina Meisami, the founder of the Dr. Borna Meisami Commemorative Foundation. “This walkathon is not just about raising funds; it’s about showing our support, compassion, and commitment to survivors as they rebuild their lives.”

The Walkathon is scheduled to take place on September 3rd, 2023, registration will start at 11:00 am at the picturesque E.T. Seton Park, located in the heart of East York. Participants of all activity levels are encouraged to come together for an enjoyable day of philanthropy. The walk will commence at 11:30 am and is estimated to conclude at 12:30 pm, followed by a delightful gathering with delicious food, opportunities to socialize, and exciting raffle prizes to be won. Special prizes will be awarded to the top 3 donors/fundraisers, acknowledging their invaluable support in creating a positive change for survivors.

To join the Stride for Survivors walkathon, tickets will cost $175 with a CRA Tax Invoice provided. Your contribution supports survivors of GBV through the Dr. Borna Meisami Foundation. Raise $350+ on our donation platform to get a SWAG bag. All participants get a commemorative walkathon shirt to show their dedication to empowering survivors.
